Join our PRN list to pick up shifts when a full time caregiver calls out. We are a residential Assisted Living with a low staff to resident ratio of 1 to 4, allowing caregivers time to get to know our residents and help them have the best day (or night) possible. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver to join our team. As a Caregiver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of our residents while fostering a home-like and engaging environment.
Work Environment:
The work environment at HomeSteady Assisted Living is a unique blend of the caregiving profession and the charm of a mini-farm. Caregivers may be exposed to outdoor elements and should be comfortable working in a pet-friendly environment.
Responsibilities:
Culture & Leadership
  • Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere by promoting social interactions and open communication between staff, residents, and all who come to visit HomeSteady.
  • Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and compassionate care for staff and residents.
Personal Care and Assistance:
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, oral hygiene, activities, and mobility.
  • Provide support for residents' nutritional needs, meal planning, and feeding.
  • Help residents maintain medication schedules and manage their medications as prescribed.
Companionship and Engagement:
  • Foster meaningful relationships with residents and engage them in conversation and activities.
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities, both indoor and outdoor, that align with residents' interests and abilities.
  • Encourage residents to participate in mini-farm-related activities, such as gardening and animal care.
  • Assist with meal preparation, serving, and dining assistance.
  • Assist in coordinating and participating in special events and outings for residents.
Safety and Well-being:
  • Monitor residents' health and well-being, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the Nursing Supervisor and recording them in the resident's folder.
  • Implement safety protocols, including fall prevention and infection control measures.
  • Assist residents with moving and transfers using proper lifting techniques and mobility aids.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • You are responsible for keeping a clean and organized environment for our residents.
  • You will be cleaning bodily fluids daily.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, bedrooms, common areas, and equipment both indoor and outdoor.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Update the MAR folder regularly and accurately
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided and resident conditions.
  • Document incidents, accidents, or changes in residents' health.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and privacy regulations regarding resident information.
Supportive Services:
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to coordinate resident healthcare and doctor's visits.
  • Assist residents with medical equipment, such as hearing aids or walkers.
  • Offer end-of-life care with empathy and support.
Family Communication:
  • Maintain open and clear communication with residents' families, providing updates on care, well-being, and any concerns.
  • Send pictures and videos through google photo links to resident families weekly to keep their relationships alive and well.
  • Offer support to families during transitions or challenging times.
Public Communication:
  • There will be regular tours and calls from the public seeking information or wanting to experience what makes HomeSteady different.
You will be answering calls and texts from the public. Make sure your communication is professional, kind, and eager to help.
Qualifications :
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification preferred.
  • 10+ years experience as a caregiver, preferably in a senior care or assisted living setting.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR.
  • Compassionate and patient with a strong desire to enhance the lives of seniors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and assist residents when necessary.
