Job Title:
Production Material Handler (1st Shift) Job Description This role focuses on safely and efficiently handling materials in a busy manufacturing environment. You will operate forklifts and related equipment to move, store, and prepare materials, ensuring accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory control. The position supports production by picking and staging coils, dies, containers, and components for work orders while maintaining a clean, organized storage area. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift and pallet jack to move materials safely throughout the production and warehouse areas. Handle incoming materials by unloading freight and steel coils, verifying transactions, and ensuring accuracy of shipments. Prepare outgoing shipments by loading freight, completing related paperwork, and ensuring proper documentation and labeling. Pick and stage materials such as coils, dies, containers, and components according to work orders and production requirements. Properly store materials and related items in designated locations to maintain organization and efficient material flow. Maintain the storage area by keeping it clean, orderly, and compliant with safety and inventory procedures. Weigh materials and products as required, recording accurate weights and related information. Prepare and apply labels and tags to materials, containers, and pallets to ensure clear identification and traceability. Use RF scanners and related warehouse technology to perform inventory transactions, order picking, and cycle counts. Support shipping and receiving activities, including packaging, general labor tasks, and warehouse inventory control. Follow all safety procedures, remain aware of surroundings, and avoid shortcuts to maintain a safe work environment. Lift, carry, and manipulate materials up to 50 pounds as needed to support production and warehouse operations. Walk, stand, reach, bend, push, and pull frequently throughout the shift to retrieve and move materials. Essential Skills Proven experience with forklift operation, including sit-down forklifts, in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Hands-on material handling experience, including loading, unloading, and moving materials in a production setting. Experience with picking, packing, order picking, and shipping and receiving processes. Ability to use RF scanners for inventory transactions, order picking, and cycle counts. Experience with pallet jacks and general warehouse equipment. Demonstrated ability to perform warehouse inventory tasks, including cycle counts and stock organization. Capability to lift, carry, and manipulate up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly. Ability to walk and stand frequently during the shift and perform reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling motions. Commitment to safety, including consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment while on the shop floor. Attention to detail when verifying transactions, preparing paperwork, and labeling materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a busy production or manufacturing environment. Background in packaging and general labor within a warehouse or production facility. Familiarity with handling steel coils and other heavy materials. Ability to maintain an organized storage area and support efficient material flow. Strong reliability and willingness to support both production and warehouse functions as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a busy manufacturing and warehouse facility on a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will work primarily on the shop floor and in storage areas, using sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and standard warehouse equipment. The environment involves frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling motions. Personal Protective Equipment is required while on the shop floor, and adherence to all safety guidelines is expected. The facility focuses on maintaining an organized storage area and efficient material flow to support ongoing production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
