Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Material Handling & Operations Load and unload inventory from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and production lines. Store materials in assigned locations using pallets, cargo boards, and proper handling methods. Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, booms, and other machinery safely and efficiently. Analyze pick sheets and pull materials according to production or customer orders. Record daily material movement and production activity using tracking sheets or systems. Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and report discrepancies. Coordinate vendor pickups, returns, and deliveries as needed. Inventory & Supply Management Manage inventory by identifying, cataloging, and tracking material locations. Monitor stock levels and submit purchasing recommendations to maintain optimal inventory. Ensure materials are available when needed to support production schedules. Leadership & Coordination Organize, coordinate, and monitor daily activities of material handlers and warehouse staff. Create and manage work schedules, track attendance, and ensure workforce coverage. Motivate team members to meet productivity targets while maintaining high quality standards. Act as a communication bridge between staff and management to ensure alignment. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Monitor team adherence to safety, ethical, and operational procedures. Inspect materials and finished goods to ensure they meet quality standards. Evaluate equipment for safety and functionality, reporting issues promptly. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment, team performance, and operations. Track key metrics (output, efficiency, errors) to identify improvement opportunities. Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean principles (waste reduction, flow efficiency). Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. 1-2 years of experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling (lead experience preferred). OSHA forklift certification (or ability to obtain) preferred. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or inventory systems). Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
