Production Machine Operator Shift:
Night Shift 10pm - 8am

$23-$25+ Job Description The Production Machine Operator plays a vital role in a food manufacturing environment by operating and monitoring production equipment to ensure the efficient, safe, and consistent production of food products in line with established quality and safety standards. This role focuses on equipment operation, quality control, sanitation, record keeping, and collaboration with the production team to meet production targets and maintain a clean, safe workplace. Responsibilities Operate production machinery and equipment, including mixers, ovens, filling machines, and packaging equipment, in a safe and efficient manner. Set up machinery according to production specifications, verify proper functioning, and make basic adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance. Monitor equipment operation and production flow, promptly identify issues, and troubleshoot or escalate problems to minimize downtime. Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet established quality standards. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) for product assembly, packaging, and labeling to maintain product consistency and compliance. Report any deviations from quality standards to the appropriate supervisor or quality control team for timely resolution. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including proper handling of equipment, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with safety procedures during production activities. Participate in safety training sessions and actively contribute to a culture of safety awareness in the production area. Identify and immediately report any safety hazards, near misses, or incidents to the supervisor. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the production area, including equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas, in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Follow established sanitation procedures for equipment cleaning and sanitation to prevent contamination and ensure food safety. Dispose of waste and by-products in line with company policies and applicable regulations. Follow production schedules and plans to meet production targets, output goals, and deadlines. Monitor production output and identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and waste reduction. Communicate any issues affecting production efficiency or product quality to the supervisor and collaborate on corrective actions. Maintain accurate and timely production records, including production logs, batch records, and inventory records, using the production reporting system (Redzone). Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock replenishment, material staging, and material handling. Collaborate effectively with other production team members, including supervisors, technicians, and quality control personnel, to achieve production goals. Communicate clearly during shift changes to ensure smooth handover of tasks and continuity of operations. Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime and non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as production needs require. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production operations. Demonstrate, promote, and exemplify the company's core values in all daily activities. Essential Skills Ability to safely and effectively operate production equipment and machinery such as mixers, ovens, filling machines, and packaging equipment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and procedures accurately. Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality assurance practices, including FSA and USDA guidelines and GMPs. Capability to conduct basic quality checks on materials and products and recognize deviations from standards. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team. Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods and to lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds as required by the production process. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Commitment to following safety protocols, using PPE appropriately, and supporting a strong safety culture. Basic ability to use a production reporting system (such as Redzone) for logging production and inventory data. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required. Additional vocational training or certification in food production, food processing, or manufacturing is a plus. Previous experience working in food manufacturing or a similar production environment is preferred. Understanding of food manufacturing sanitation practices and cleaning procedures. Comfort working around mechanical equipment and in environments with noise, vibration, and varying temperatures. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and communicate suggestions constructively. Willingness to participate in ongoing safety and operational training. Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and work schedules, including overtime and non-standard hours. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing environment that involves daily work around production machinery and equipment. The position requires standing and walking throughout the plant, warehouse, and office areas, as well as frequent lifting and carrying of packages up to 50 pounds. You will regularly use fine motor skills and perform physical movements such as reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting. The work environment includes daily exposure to elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, noise, vibration, and occasional darkness or poor lighting. There is seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wet conditions, and humidity. The role involves working around mechanical equipment and associated hazards, including mechanical, forklift, chemical, electrical, fire, and explosive risks, as well as potential exposure to communicable diseases. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards is essential to maintaining a safe and compliant food production facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.69 - $25.69/hr.
