Production Manager - Lawn & Grounds Operations Kuberski Brothers Lawn Care | Central Iowa Full-Time | Year-Round | Leadership Position Kuberski Brothers Lawn Care is growing and we are hiring a Production Manager to lead daily field operations, oversee crews, and ensure our shop, equipment, and team operate at a high standard every day. This is a hands-on leadership role. We are looking for someone who shows up early, takes ownership, stays organized, and ensures our crews leave the shop prepared, organized, and ready to perform. This position is heavily focused on operations, organization, and equipment management. Roughly 80% of the role is centered around managing the shop, equipment, routing, inventory, and crew readiness, while the remaining portion involves stepping into the field to support crews when needed. The right candidate must be highly organized in the shop, in the field, and in the office. They should be comfortable managing equipment, handling scheduling and logistics, and keeping operations running efficiently day to day. What You'll Be Responsible For Opening the shop daily (typically between 6:00-6:30 AM) Ensuring all mowers and equipment are ready for the day: Blade changes Oil checks General maintenance inspections Loading trucks and trailers for crews Managing equipment readiness and inventory: Blades Oil and filters Fertilizer and chemical stock Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient shop and yard Managing routing, scheduling, and crew logistics Overseeing commercial and residential mowing crews Assisting in hiring, onboarding, and managing team members Addressing customer issues professionally and efficiently Performing most in-house equipment repairs and troubleshooting (major repairs outsourced) Supporting the chemical application division with scheduling and oversight Assisting with snow operations and winter equipment preparation Stepping in wherever needed to support operations and crews This is not a desk-only management role. While most responsibilities are operational and shop-focused, there will be times this person jumps into the field to help the team succeed.
That may include:
Running a mower route Assisting the fertilizer crew Supporting landscaping or enhancement projects Helping crews stay on schedule during busy periods or call-outs What Success Looks Like Crews leave on time and fully prepared Equipment downtime is minimal Shop and yard remain organized and professional Routes run efficiently Customer concerns are handled quickly Team members are accountable and improving Ownership is freed up to focus on company growth Qualifications 5+ years of experience in lawn care, mowing, landscaping, or green industry leadership Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working on commercial equipment Ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues in-house Experience supervising and managing teams (10-15 employees during peak season) Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable hiring, training, and disciplining employees when necessary Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure Comfortable using modern routing and scheduling software Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain Who This Role Is For A dependable early-riser who takes pride in preparation A leader who balances structure and initiative Someone who communicates clearly and holds standards A mechanically minded problem-solver Someone willing to lead from the front and jump in wherever needed A person who values organization, efficiency, and accountability Compensation & Schedule Full-time, year-round position Peak season hours: 40-50 hours per week Compensation starting in the $25-$30/hour range based on experience Paid Time Off (PTO) Health insurance For the right individual who demonstrates leadership and capability, compensation and responsibility will grow over time.
