We are much more than a martial arts school. Position Overview Mercer Island Martial Arts is seeking a friendly, energetic, professional, and highly personable individual to join our team as a Program Director / Community Outreach Coordinator. This role is incredibly important because you are often the first person students and families interact with when they enter our school. You will help create a welcoming and positive experience for both current and prospective students while supporting our community outreach, enrollment process, and day-to-day operations. Martial arts experience is not required; however, a willingness and desire to train in martial arts is essential so you can fully understand and represent our programs and culture. We pay our staff to train, and all team members work toward their Black Belt journey and personal development.
Responsibilities:
Student & Parent Relations Welcome students and families with a positive, professional attitude Build relationships with students and parents Talk with prospective families about our programs and answer questions Help guide new families through the enrollment process Schedule and confirm appointments and introductory lessons Follow up with leads through phone calls, texts, and emails Administrative Duties Answer phones and respond to inquiries Organize paperwork and maintain student records Create and update documents, forms, and training materials Learn and utilize our organizational and marketing software systems Assist with implementing marketing and retention strategies Community Outreach & Marketing Attend community events and represent the school professionally Help organize and participate in marketing events and outreach activities Set up brochure racks and distribute marketing materials throughout the community Assist with generating creative marketing ideas and strategies Support social media and promotional efforts when needed Team & Class Support Occasionally assist instructors during classes by helping students stay focused, motivated, and engaged Support the positive culture and energy of the school Learn and model our communication philosophy and "Black Belt" leadership approach What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Friendly, outgoing, and personable Passionate about working with children and families Professional in both appearance and communication Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable speaking with the public Motivated, proactive, and dependable Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment Willing to learn martial arts and become part of our school culture Comfortable with sales conversations and relationship-building Positive, energetic, and team-oriented Preferred Qualifications Customer service Experience working with children or families Basic computer and organizational technology skills Valid driver's license preferred Schedule Most shifts are Monday-Friday between 1:00 PM and 8:30 PM Approximately, one Saturday a month is required for special events, testing, or community outreach Compensation & Benefits Starting pay: $25-$28 per hour depending on experience Performance-based bonuses after probationary period Paid martial arts training Health insurance benefits available after the probationary period Retirement matching program available after probationary period Paid vacation and sick time Why Join Our Team?
