The City of North Plains is searching for a curious, outgoing, and technology-savvy professional to launch and grow our first small-scale recreation program while leading the City's communications strategy. This is a rare opportunity to design programs from the ground up and shape how a growing community connects, celebrates, and stays informed. Why Join Us? What You'll Do Launch & Lead Community Recreation:
You'll design and implement the City's inaugural recreation program developing classes, seasonal activities, and events that bring residents together. You'll assess community needs, build policies and registration systems, manage budgets, and evaluate success. Shape the
City's Voice:
You'll manage the city's social media presence and website content creating engaging posts, graphics, videos, and promotional materials. Connect the
Community:
You'll serve as a liaison to schools, businesses, and community organizations. You'll respond to public inquiries and support citywide initiatives.
Coordinate Facilities & Events:
From managing facility bookings and rental logistics to overseeing event setup, takedown, and supervision, you'll help ensure our community spaces are welcoming, organized, and well-run. Who You Are You're naturally curious and excited to experiment, test ideas, and build programs from scratch. You thrive in a visible, community-facing role. You're confident communicating with elected officials, staff, volunteers, and residents. You're fluent in social media platforms and comfortable managing websites. You can move seamlessly between big-picture planning and hands-on event execution. You're energized after reading this announcement. You might be our ideal candidate if you have: A Bachelor's degree in recreation, communications, public relations, hospitality, or a related field, and Three years of experience supervising and communicating recreational programming, events, or city services in print and digital media — OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. This role includes a mix of office and field work, including outdoor event support and lifting up to 50 pounds when needed. This position will require 40 work hours per week with some evenings and weekends required. This position is exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay.
