Job Description

The English Department in seeking a collaborative, detail oriented, and student-focused individual to serve as the Writing Coordinator . The position supports the department chair in the day-to-day coordination and administration of department functions related to writing courses, including
ENGL070, ENGL080, ENGL099, ENGL101, ENGL102, ENGL/COMM220, ENGL/COMM221, ENGL223, ENGL230.
The coordinator will work closely with faculty, adjunct instructors, and campus stakeholders to ensure a cohesive, high-quality composition learning experience for students.
Compensation:
9 hour reduced workload per semester
Fall/Spring Stipend:
$500
Winter Stipend:
$540
Summer Stipend:
$2160 Provide direct administrative and instructional support to the Department Chair. Assist in recruiting and coordinating adjunct writing faculty and their classroom observers. Support the chair in scheduling of writing courses. Assist in the procurement of course texts and classroom materials related to writing courses. Provide guidance to adjunct writing faculty on curriculum, course content, pedagogy, and instructional strategies. Meet regularly with the chair to advise on instructional issues and faculty concerns related to writing. Advise the chair on continued employment status of adjunct writing instructors. Assist with writing-related assessment activities and related reporting activities. Support the Department Chair in ensuring the department is represented at student recruitment and engagement events. Collaborate with placement and advising to improve student placement and progression in writing classes. Must be a full-time current English Faculty Member
