Public Affairs Office. Researches, develops, coordines, and presents informion on news media reports and community activities to local command senior leaders on public/media appearances. Develops public affairs plans, media operions stregies, and advises on other policies and programs ofUSTRANSCOM
in relion to the public, news media, DoD, and other government departments and agencies. Represents the command with a variety of councils, boards, working groups, and panels inside and outside the command and other governmental and non-governmental, public, civic, industry, educional and entertainment organizions. Serves as senior adviser in the assigned area of responsibility. Qualificions You may qualify the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualificions: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Providing policy and program guidance, management and oversight of public affairs programs and activities. Developing and writing informion merials designed to reach nional audiences through the news media, wire services, radio, television and newspaper. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Educion Substitution of educion may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
