Public Outreach Specialist Location:
Binghamton or Rochester, NY Salary:
$85K-$96K/Annual Our client is seeking a Public Outreach Specialist to develop and implement effective communication strategies that engage state and local government representatives, regulatory agencies, and the public. The specialist will manage relationships and ensure that project objectives and deliverables are met without disruption, using advanced problem-solving and relationship-building skills. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement standard communication plans for working with state and local government representatives, regulatory agencies, and the public to ensure project objectives are met without delays. Use advanced problem identification and resolution skills to facilitate quick decision-making and proactive implementation of action plans. Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, state entities, and customers to foster consistent communication between project teams and affected parties. Anticipate and interpret company and customer requirements to set strategic direction for public outreach plans, ensuring messaging is standardized across the planning, design, permitting, and construction phases of the project. Direct communication strategies and outreach efforts to effectively manage public relations and mitigate concerns associated with construction activities. Qualifications Valid U.S. state driver's license required. Willingness to travel locally on a daily basis. Experience working directly with the public to manage and resolve complex issues related to construction activities. Three (3) years of practical experience in journalism, marketing, communications, environmental permitting, construction communications, or related fields. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Environmental Sciences, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field; or an Associate's degree with 15+ years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, particularly in writing and public speaking. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
