Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a part-time reliable and professional Public Transportation Bus/Van Driver to operate vehicles safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in shuttle driving, delivery, or commercial driving, with a focus on passenger safety and comfort. This role involves transporting passengers within designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals, and maintaining the vehicle in good condition. A strong emphasis on communication skills and safety procedures is essential for success in this position. Responsibilities Completes vehicle pre-trip inspections per regulation. Prioritizes passenger schedules in order to meet appointments and needs. Provides courteous service to clients and works in cooperation with other department staff. Drives for a maximum of two (2) hours without a break. Maintains adequate fuel levels in vehicle and reports maintenance issues to the dispatch in a prompt manner. Documents trip information and turn it in to dispatch as directed. Assists wheelchair clients with loading and unloading. Cleans vehicles at end of the day. Notifies Administrator immediately and complete accident reports promptly as needed. Ensures that all safety policies and regulations are followed and adhered to by self, others, and the public. Complies with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously. Collects fares from clients and turns in to dispatch as directed. Checks vehicles; fluid levels, engine oil, hydraulics, brakes, transmission and filters; checks air in tires; checks engine for leaks; checks battery, battery water, and belts; checks radio, and reports any defects if service is needed. Continually works to improve and provide a high level of customer service. Maintains a defensive driving posture, to ensure road awareness and safety. Works with other departments to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Assists the department as directed by the Administrator in case of emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills Proven experience in shuttle driving, delivery driving, bus driving, or commercial driving roles such as limousine or school bus driving. Must Possess a valid Kansas Driver's License Class C Commercial License with a passenger endorsement at all times of employment. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members. Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting when required and handle routine vehicle inspections. Ability to operate various types of transportation vehicles safely under different conditions. Customer service orientation with a friendly and professional demeanor. Good organizational skills to manage schedules and maintain accurate records. Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures. Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
