WORKS DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY
As a Public Works Department Laborer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the infrastructure and facilities within the community. You will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks to ensure the cleanliness, safety and functionality of public spaces, roads, and utilities. This position requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Training:
High School Diploma/or GED is required. 2.
Certification and Licensing:
Must be able to communicate and work well with others in a teamwork environment. Must be able to read and follow instructions. 3.
Skills:

Must be able to communicate and work well with others in a teamwork environment. Must be able to read and follow instructions. b.
People Skills:
Should exhibit a positive attitude towards others, including the public. Ability to apply problem-solving skills in response to complaints from the public. c.
Mechanical/Technical Skills:
Ability to work with hands and perform strenuous physical activity over long periods of time. d.
Heavy Equipment Operation:
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as, Backhoe and Front End Loader with proficiency. You will be required to test and pass an equipment operation skills test. 4.
Physical Requirements:
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 5.
Physical Demands:
heavy lifting; to engage in strenuous physical activity in all weather conditions; to operate a motor vehicle efficiently and safely is required.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Skilled Manual/Mechanical Labor:
Performs manual and mechanical tasks for the Public Works Department, including skilled operation, use and maintenance of machinery and tools. 2.
Custodial/General Labor & Maintenance:
Performs, on a routine basis, general custodial and maintenance tasks for the Public Works Department. This will include but is not limited to, cutting weeds, picking up trash, janitorial services as needed (within the Village of Milan), assisting with the streets work, the building/maintenance, the parks, the water/sewer crew, anywhere within the Public Works Department that is needed. 3. Assist with traffic control during road construction or maintenance projects, including setting up barricades, cones, and signs. 4. Participate in snow removal operations during winter months, including plowing, salting, and shoveling sidewalks and pathways. 5. Operate and maintain hand and power tools including shovels, rakes, mowers, chainsaws, and small construction equipment. 6. Assist with the repair and installation of sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems to ensure proper functionality and safety. 7. Respond, assist, and repair water leaks and sewer issues. 8. Will be required to be on call for water emergencies.

Travel:
