Job Description

Job Summary The Purchasing Manager will lead the procurement of parts, materials, equipment, and services supporting fleet maintenance and heavy civil construction operations. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective purchasing while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting field and shop teams with resources needed to keep projects running efficiently. Job Duties and Responsibilities Manage procurement of fleet parts, construction materials, tools, and services Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure best pricing, quality, and delivery Ensure timely availability of materials to support project schedules and equipment uptime Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, dealers, and service providers Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with shop and field teams to prevent shortages or overstock Review purchase requests, issue purchase orders, and track order status Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement purchasing efficiencies Resolve supply, delivery, and quality issues with vendors Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation Collaborate with operations, project managers, and maintenance teams on forecasting and planning Assigns and performs other assignments as required. Qualifications 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in heavy civil construction, fleet, or equipment environments Strong knowledge of construction materials, heavy equipment parts and vendor networks Proven negotiation and vendor management skills Experience with purchasing systems, inventory tracking, or ERP software Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Possesses A-Del's core values: passion, integrity, hard work and professionalism. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to multi-task and organize competing priorities of A-Del's business needs, organizational issues and departmental expectations Excellent problem-solving skills, strong ability to confidently act and diplomatically communicate to clients, senior management and all employee levels. Ability to handle and resolve conflict effectively in a firm but fair manner. Knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and vendor management within a heavy civil construction/fleet environment Knowledge of heavy equipment parts, construction materials, inventory control, and supply chain practices Knowledge of purchasing systems (ERP), cost tracking, and basic contract/pricing structures Skilled in negotiating with vendors to secure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery terms Communicate effectively with vendors, shop personnel, field crews, and project teams Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Ability to source and secure critical parts and materials quickly to minimize equipment and jobsite downtime Ability to actively manage parts core inventory, ensuring timely returns and maximizing vendor credits Ability to analyze purchasing data and identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities Ability to maintain strong supplier relationships and adapt to changing operational needs Your leadership in procurement will directly support fleet uptime and operational efficiency by ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of parts, materials, equipment, and services critical to maintaining our maintenance operations.
Pay:
From $70,000.00 per year
