Job Summary:
The QA Assistant supports the Quality Assurance team in maintaining product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This role assists with supplier quality management, internal audits, laboratory testing, and customer documentation review to ensure consistent adherence to company and industry standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supplier Quality & Compliance Maintain ingredient and packaging specifications, ensuring all documentation is current and properly filed in the ERP system Coordinate and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), ensuring timely follow-up and investigation in collaboration with the QA Manager Internal Quality Systems & Operations Support Assist with internal audits, including GMP, glass and brittle material controls, pest control, and sanitation programs Support the QA Manager with environmental monitoring, product testing, and hold/release programs Assist in monitoring pest control programs Support the development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Laboratory Support Perform routine laboratory testing, including apple testing and finished product analysis Support the apple patulin testing program and related quality control activities Customer & Documentation Support Perform daily review of shipping documentation and vinegar Certificates of Analysis (COA) to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to customer receipt Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in a food manufacturing or quality assurance environment is a plus Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry Basic understanding of food safety and quality systems (GMP, HACCP preferred) Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs consistently Strong organizational and time management skills Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic laboratory skills and comfort working with testing equipment and procedures Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred Problem-solving mindset with ability to escalate issues appropriately Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
