Job Description
Are you a proactive Quality Assurance professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys leading from the floor? A respected food manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee quality systems and compliance across all aspects of their operation. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety, regulatory compliance, and product integrity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production (ready-to-eat or meat experience preferred), a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to mentor a high-performing QA team. What You'll Do Lead and manage all quality programs for your assigned shift, ensuring adherence to company, customer, and regulatory standards. Monitor and audit all phases of production, including raw materials, processing, packaging, and distribution. Oversee HACCP, GMP, and SSOP programs, ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance. Conduct internal inspections, product checks, and verification of CCPs, validations, and corrective actions. Support customer and third-party audits, including SQF and other certification requirements. Analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve processes. Partner with Production and Sanitation leadership to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment. Mentor and train QA staff to foster a culture of accountability, consistency, and food safety excellence. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive experience in food quality assurance or food safety, ideally within a USDA- or FDA-regulated environment. Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and quality system audits. HACCP and/or SQF certification preferred. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying regulatory standards (USDA, FDA). Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and build high-performing teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
