Quality Control/Microbiology Technician Job Summary:
The Quality Control / Microbiology Technician will work side by side with the Quality Manager to ensure that all materials are properly handled and product controls are met through regular quality control procedures and microbiological testing. Performs incoming inspection of materials received. Assists all production line inspections and documentation of all finished goods manufactured in the production area. This position will also be responsible for setting, tracking, and result reporting of microbiological material testing.
Job Description:
Read and understand the production job specification sheet and filling instructions to ensure that proper manufacturing steps are being followed. Upload all completed production line documentation to the operations management system. Work with Senior QC Technician, Line Operator and Line Associates when adjustments are needed in order to meet product's quality and manufacturing standards. Help enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including good hygiene and health, during all manufacturing steps. Ability to step into any position needed on the production line while maintaining regular quality control processes. Ensures all Micro/QC work areas are continually clean and organized. Sampling incoming materials and components aseptically for retain and testing purposes. Review all Certificate of Analysis (COAs) and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) of handling and storage requirements. Reports to Quality Manager if any quality control discrepancies or non-conformances are found within production, QC lab, or micro lab. Performs Environmental Swabbing, Water Collection, and performs indicator testing on these samples. Performs regular calibration verification on scales, meters and other equipment. Monitors raw materials and product expirations regularly to ensure required re-certifications are performed promptly. Test raw materials and manufactured goods for quality and microbial specifications per recommended testing methods.
Education, Skills and Experience Needed:
Prefer 1 year of manufacturing, assembly line, and quality control experience Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) required Require high School diploma or GED Communicate well with others, including reading and writing. Self-motivated and hard working. Ability to work well with others in a team environment Must be safety and quality conscious. Must be self-sufficient and have the ability to complete tasks without supervision. Basic math skills. Must be knowledgeable of volume and weight metric conversions. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis. Communicates continual improvement opportunities and helps implement them Open to potential overtime hours and working up to a few hours on Sundays for microbial testing and product testing, as needed
