About the
Role:
The Racquets Intern will play a vital role in supporting the operations and maintenance of racquet sports facilities, ensuring that equipment and courts are prepared to the highest standards for players and events. This position offers hands-on experience in racquet stringing, equipment repair, and customer service within a dynamic sports environment. The intern will collaborate closely with the racquets team to learn about inventory management, scheduling, and the technical aspects of racquet sports equipment. Through this role, the intern will develop a comprehensive understanding of the operational needs of racquet sports facilities and contribute to enhancing the overall player experience. Ultimately, the intern will gain valuable industry knowledge and practical skills that can serve as a foundation for a career in sports management, coaching, or equipment specialization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a high school or college program. Basic knowledge of racquet sports such as tennis or squash Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced sports facility setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with racquet stringing or equipment repair. Familiarity with racquet sports rules and terminology. Previous customer service or retail experience. Basic understanding of inventory management systems. Physical ability to handle equipment and perform manual tasks.
Responsibilities:
Assist in stringing, repairing, and maintaining racquets to ensure optimal performance for players. Support the racquets team in managing inventory, including ordering and organizing equipment and supplies. Prepare and maintain courts and equipment for daily use and special events, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Provide excellent customer service by assisting players with equipment needs, answering questions, and facilitating rentals or purchases. Collaborate with staff to schedule court usage and support racquet sports programs and clinics.
Skills:
The required skills such as communication and teamwork are essential for effectively interacting with players, coaches, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Knowledge of racquet sports allows the intern to understand player needs and provide appropriate equipment support. Preferred skills like racquet stringing and equipment repair are applied daily to maintain high-quality gear, directly impacting player performance and satisfaction. Customer service skills are used to create a welcoming environment and assist with equipment rentals or purchases, enhancing the overall facility experience. Additionally, organizational skills help manage inventory and scheduling tasks, ensuring that resources are available and courts are prepared efficiently.
