Starting Pay:

$20.85 per hour.

Upcoming Raise:

Effective July 1st, 2026, the base rate increases to $21.23 per hour. 1-

Year Raise:

At your 1-year anniversary, your base rate increases to $22.35 per hour.

First-Year Earnings Potential:

$55,000 - $70,000+ with overtime. Weekly Pay. Union Position. Regular raises and vacation pay.

Clear path for advancement:

Once you master the Hostler Driver and Groundperson duties, you can move into training to become a certified conductor, and later a certified engineer (Considered switching crew). Both certifications come with a $1.50 per hour raise upon successful completion. (Switching crews run a later night schedule)

Schedule:

Start time: 6 PM, 5 days per week. Daily shifts typically range from 8 to 14 hours.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver's license. Ability to pass a 7-year background check and drug screening. Pass a Physical Capabilities Test. No high school diploma or GED required. Must live within 45 minutes of Chambersburg, PA (no relocation assistance provided). This role is an excellent fit for individuals with backgrounds in warehouse work, truck driving (CDL or non-CDL), delivery, landscaping, construction, or anyone who enjoys active, outdoor work. You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services and not by the railroad itself.
