Job title Research and Development Fabricator Reports to R&D Lead, Owner Pay Hourly $22-$28 We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and eager individual to make a positive impact in the landscape and snow removal industries. Help drive ours - and your own innovations through our rigorous design, development, and manufacturing phases using your strong desire to create things, and mechanical aptitude. Once proven, these products may earn the KAGE stamp of approval and be launched into the landscape and snow removal markets which we serve. Job purpose The R&D Fabricator will be primarily responsible for taking ideas from concept to reality as quickly and cheaply as possible, harnessing all of our manufacturing resources and equipment. Learn and record every aspect of building the product during the early phases of development so that knowledge can be translated when it comes time to produce the product in high volume. Floating between R&D Fabrication, and production welding, assembly, and miscellaneous maintenance projects as required. This job requires flexibility, creative thinking and a can-do attitude. Duties and responsibilities Record and document manufacturing steps as the products come to life. Note taking is important! Supports engineering R&D projects through fabrication of custom and prototype parts in a quick-turnaround environment. Make educated decisions based on real-world experience in the field using all types of equipment. Supports plant maintenance and facilities work through repair and fabrication of parts and assemblies. Contributes to design and fabrication work for continuous improvement of our existing and future products. Ensures compliance with company and governmental safety rules and regulations in connection with EH&S Meets quota and can perform tasks quickly and efficiently. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma. Strong aptitude for math and mechanical engineering principals. Strong low voltage knowledge and field experience. Car stereo wiring for example. Basic welding knowledge and experience. Two years metal production/ fabrication experience preferred. Three years' (full time preferred) experience in landscape industry (maintenance or construction)- including skid-steer, heavy equipment, snow removal operations. Includes hand and machine work. Experience with fixing and maintenance of snow removal and lawncare equipment is desirable. Hands-on mechanical and analytical experience. Excellent problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel preferred. Knowledge of CAD software preferred Must pass background check and drug screen. Ability to communicate clearly in English. Production tools and instruments may include a MIG welding equipment, other welding and brazing equipment (spot welder, braze torch, etc.), standard machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, bandsaw, shear, etc.) as well as a variety of rough and precision hand tools, calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Manufacturing work is performed in a production floor, hands-on setting. Field testing and idea gathering is done outside in a landscape and snow removal setting. Work is generally preformed Monday through Friday. Ability to safely operate standard welding and brazing equipment (torches, power supplies, gas supplies) Ability to safely operate standard machine shop equipment Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, periodically bending, lifting and twisting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. May be required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Keyboarding may require repetitive use of wrists, hands, and fingers, and frequently applying force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Must be able to communicate by oral speech, writing and hearing in person and/or by phone in a businesslike, professional manner. Ability to travel up to 10%.
