Aug 19, 2026 Job Description North Scott is looking to hire a Reading Aide (4 hrs./day) at Alan Shepard Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience and empathy when working with students who are struggling with literacy skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Knowledge of literacy instruction strategies and best practices. Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
REPORTS TO
Building Principal
JOB GOAL
To assist classroom teachers in improving student literacy outcomes by working with individual students and small groups.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist teachers in implementing literacy instruction strategies. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help with reading and writing skills. Utilize literacy intervention programs and resources to support struggling readers. Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for students. Assist in the creation of literacy materials and resources. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers. Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop literacy initiatives and activities. Maintain a clean and organized literacy resource area. Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities related to literacy instruction. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten month year. Salary established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated per contract language.
