Job Description

The Swimming Pool Manager will work at the Mineral County Pool in the Lions Park. The position is a temporary summer position. This position oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance and administration of all daily pool activity during or after official hours. Oversee the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification and performance of all staff. Develops and implements the various activities and programs. for supervising a swimming instruction program for children in the Hawthorne Community. This position is responsible for the scheduling and supervision of all lifeguards for all programming at the swimming pool. This temporary summer position.
Essential Functions:
(Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential functions). Oversee and coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification and performance of all staff; supervise the day-to-day activities of staff. Schedule and coordinate lifeguard certification courses. Oversee and administer the full swimming instruction program including program times and program lifeguard assistance. Ensure the direct cleaning of the pool and upkeep of all pool equipment and facilities to include: the pool, pool house, pump house, showers, restrooms and pool office daily. Ensure and supervise the operation of filtration system and health requirements of chlorination and PH acidity levels in the pool water. Maintain readings and recordings daily. Oversee and maintain an accurate full accounting of all activity and snack bar funds to include inventory and restocking. Responsible for office duties to include the development and maintenance of the lifeguard working schedules, recording of lifeguard hours, collecting daily use fees, swimming lesson fees and pool party fees; providing telephone communications and ensuring that all safety procedures are followed. Is responsible to ensure that all lifeguards and pool activities follow safe and best practiced policies and procedures to prevent water accidents or possible drowning.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
(KSA's are attributes required to perform a job; generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or training).
Knowledge of:
Lifesaving techniques, CPR and First Aid. Principles and practices of training and supervision. Cash management, operations and recordkeeping. Knowledge of problem-solving methods. Basic knowledge of chemicals.
Skills in:
Communicate effectively with diverse populations. Developing working relationships with citizens and other employees.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, implement and oversee recreational programs. Work in team-based environment. Operate department equipment. Communicate clearly and effectively; both verbally and in writing. Make decisions independently. Perform under pressure.
Required Certifications and Licenses:
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification CPR Certification First Aide Certification Preferred
