Job Description
The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Recreation Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $24.00/hr). The work schedule will include evenings and Saturdays. Under the direction of the Recreation Director or their designee, the Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing recreational activities for the municipality's youth and adults. Work involves responsibility for planning, supervising, and coordinating varied recreational programs. Duties include recommending, implementing, promoting, and evaluating recreation programs; arranging for equipment and supplies; training and supervising part-time, seasonal employees, and program instructors; and maintaining contacts with community organizations. This position also has the responsibility for making routine technical recreational program decisions. The work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skill, and ability in all phases of public recreational programs. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, maturity, observation, and communication skills. Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Programming; plus two (2) years of progressively responsible recreation program experience; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Criminal background and driving record checks required prior to employment. CPR and First Aid certification within a six-month period. Certified Pool Operator within a one-year period. Must have and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
