Job Description

Position Summary The Referral Coordinator must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to coordinate operations of the referral processes, including, but not limited to pre-certifications, and scheduling appointments. Coordinate operations and processes of the Centralized Referral Office. Office equipment operation and additional duties as required by practice manager. Responsibilities 1. Coordinate operations and processes a. Obtaining pre-certifications b. Collaborate with medical practices/facilities to schedule referral appointments, diagnostic testing, and imaging procedures timely. c. Coordinate referral appointment information and testing/visit instructions to patients by telephone or letter. d. Maintaining Excel spreadsheet Referral Log. e. Fax required documents (office notes and orders) to non-EHR practices/facilities in preparation of patient's visit/test. f. Scan documents (office notes/test results) into EHR from non-EHR practices/facilities. 2. Office Proficiency a. Must possess excellent telephone skills. b. Must be capable of multitasking. c. Must possess computer skills, with Excel and Word knowledge/experience. d. Must possess written communication skills. 3. Office equipment operation a. Must be capable of operating multi-line telephones, scanner, copier, and fax machine. 4. Additional duties as required by manager a. Monitors inventory needs and reports to the practice manager. b. Other duties may be required that are not listed Minimum Requirements High School or higher plus 1-2 years formal training/education is required. Must possess CPT and
ICD-9/10
coding knowledge. Must know medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. 1-3 years related work experience. Must possess computer skills, with Excel and Word knowledge/experience Medical Office experience is preferred.
