Athena Plastic Surgery Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care across the full surgical continuum, including clinic support, pre-operative assessments, intraoperative assistance, and post-operative recovery. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience in plastic surgery. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Patient Care Perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and patient education. Provide detailed pre-op instructions and ensure patients understand surgical preparation requirements. Assist the surgeon during in-office procedures and surgical cases, maintaining strict sterile technique. Prepare, set up, and maintain the operating room, including instruments, supplies, and equipment. Circulate and/or scrub for procedures as needed, following all safety and infection control protocols. Monitor patients intraoperatively and immediately post-operatively, documenting vital signs and patient responses. Manage patient recovery, including pain management, discharge teaching, and safety evaluation. Conduct post-operative follow-up appointments, wound assessments, suture removal, and patient education. Provide triage support for patient calls, post-surgical concerns, and clinical questions. Administer semaglutide / GLP1s, HRT shots and place IVs Administrative & Coordination Maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records (EMR). Ensure all consents, clearances, and documentation are completed before surgery. Coordinate with anesthesia providers, vendors, and other clinical team members. Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and ensure OR readiness. Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and compliance with regulatory standards. Patient Education & Experience Deliver clear, compassionate patient communication throughout the surgical process. Support patients with pre•and post-operative expectations, recovery timelines, and care instructions. Uphold the highest level of patient confidentiality and customer service. Qualifications Active RN license (State-specific) required. 2+ years of nursing experience in plastic surgery, perioperative nursing, ambulatory surgery center, or related surgical specialty. Operating room experience (circulating and/or scrubbing). BLS/CPR certification required; ACLS preferred. Experience with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and aesthetic or reconstructive procedures. Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with a high standard of professionalism. Preferred Experience Experience with aesthetic procedures (injectables, lasers, skincare). Familiarity with EMR systems commonly used in plastic surgery. Previous work in a private practice setting. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to assist with patient positioning and light lifting. Manual dexterity required for fine motor tasks during procedures.
