Job Description

Selkirk Equipment Rentals — Hayden / North Idaho Full-time Selkirk Equipment Rentals is a growing heavy equipment rental company serving North Idaho. We rent mini excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, boom lifts, attachments, and other equipment to contractors, property owners, and local businesses. We are looking for a sharp, dependable, hands-on person to help run the day-to-day rental operation. This role is part customer service, part dispatch, part equipment prep, and part sales support. It is a great fit for someone who likes variety, can move quickly, and wants to grow with a company instead of being stuck in one narrow job. This person will be the first point of contact for many customers and will help make sure rentals are quoted, scheduled, delivered, returned, cleaned, greased, inspected, and ready to go back out. What You'll Do Customer Service & Rentals Answer incoming phone calls and respond quickly to new leads Help customers choose the right equipment for their job Send quotes and rental agreements Follow up on open quotes Coordinate pickup, delivery, and return schedules Communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and the owners Keep rental information organized in our systems Yard & Equipment Support Help inspect equipment when it leaves and when it returns Grease machines, check fluids, and report issues Wash down and clean equipment Prep machines and attachments for the next rental Help load and unload equipment safely Keep the yard organized and professional Take photos, document damage, and flag maintenance needs Sales & Growth Follow up with past customers and open leads Reach out to local contractors and businesses during slower periods Help build customer relationships Look for ways to improve our rental process and customer experience Who We're Looking For The right person is not afraid of phones, equipment, customers, or getting dirty.
You should be:
Dependable and punctual Comfortable talking with customers Organized and able to juggle multiple things at once Quick to respond when leads or calls come in Mechanically inclined, or willing to learn Comfortable working both in an office and outside in the yard Able to use a computer, phone, texting, and rental software Safety-minded around trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment Interested in growing with the business Helpful Experience Experience in any of the following is helpful, but not required if you are the right person: Equipment rental Construction Trucking or dispatch Heavy equipment operation Equipment maintenance Inside sales Customer service Yard/shop work Trailer loading and tie-downs Growth Opportunity This is not meant to be a dead-end position. Selkirk Equipment Rentals is growing, and the person who steps into this role now has the opportunity to grow with us. As the company scales, this role could grow into: Rental Manager Operations Manager Sales Manager Yard Manager Branch Manager We want someone who can come in, learn the business, take ownership, and become a key part of the company. Requirements Valid driver's license Ability to lift, bend, climb, grease, wash, and work around equipment Comfortable working outdoors in different weather Strong communication skills Basic computer and phone skills Positive attitude and willingness to learn CDL, equipment experience, or mechanical experience is a plus, but not required. Schedule Full-time position. Typical schedule would be Monday through Friday, with some flexibility depending on rental volume, deliveries, and customer needs.
Pay:
$24.50 - $30.00 per hour Application Question(s): This role is a mix of office/customer work and hands-on yard work. Are you comfortable answering phones, sending quotes, coordinating rentals, and also washing, greasing, inspecting, and prepping equipment? Tell us about your experience with equipment, construction, dispatch, rentals, customer service, or sales. Which parts of this role would you be strongest in right away? When a new lead comes in, speed matters. Are you comfortable responding quickly to calls/leads, following up on quotes, and keeping several rentals organized at once?
