FullTime Department BSD BMB - Kossiakoff Lab About the Department The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology studies how biomolecules function and interact to drive the complex, diverse, and adaptive behaviors of living systems. Our focus is on biological mechanisms described at the atomic level. We are highly collaborative and often employ multiple approaches to address otherwise intractable questions. We have particular strengths in membrane proteins and RNA biochemistry and are pioneers in all areas of biophysics, structural biology, biochemistry, and protein engineering and design. Please explore our programs further at biochem.uchicago/. Job Summary Our lab focuses on developing technology to generating synthetic antibodies for basic and applied research. These synthetic antibodies are important in biotherapeutic drug discovery projects, as well as for tools for structural biology applications. This project is highly interdisciplinary and require team members to develop a range of technical skills, especially cell biology expertise. There is also a need to be able to work effectively in a team environment. The specific tasks involve molecular biology, cell biology and protein biochemistry support for ongoing projects. The project requires working with tumor samples and performing antibody binding and cytotoxicity assays. Responsibilities Cell biology expertise to work with tumor cells. Setting up and performing experiments. Biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins. Preparing and maintaining stocks, media, and other common lab solutions. Collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data. Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan. Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates. Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project. Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents. Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator. Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum QualificationsEducation:
