Veterinary Medicine | Veterinary Biosciences The Research Scientist will conduct independent and collaborative research within the Warren Laboratory focused on simian arteriviruses, emerging animal viruses with zoonotic potential. The role includes designing, optimizing, and executing molecular, cellular, and virologic experiments in vitro. The scientist will analyze experimental data, prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and grant materials, and mentor junior lab members. Additional duties include supporting daily laboratory operations, maintaining regulatory and biosafety compliance, and contributing to the lab's mission of understanding pre-emergent zoonotic viruses for pandemic.Working Conditions:
Requires laboratory work in aBSL-2/BSL-2+/BSL-3
setting with potential exposure to viral agents, handling of infectious agents, primary cells, and extended periods at the laboratory bench or microscope. Some physical activity may include lifting lab equipment. Compliance with institutional, state, and federal biosafety and animal care regulations is required.Additional Information:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in virology, immunology, molecular biology, or related field. Experience with viral propagation and titration, molecular cloning, RNA analysis, and cell culture techniques. Familiarity with advanced imaging, flow cytometry, or functional infection assays is preferred. Strong data analysis and scientific communication skills.Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prepare publications in relevant format for top-tier journals. Postgraduate research experience and publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals will be highly desirable.Target Salary Range:
$58,700.00 - $77,200.00 per year; commensurate with experience, internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.Location:
