Job Description

NAR REPORTS TO
Housing Manager Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services designed to maintain the resident's physical and emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications:
The Resident Assistant is required to have an ability to read, write and speak English, and complete and pass a state required background study form which checks for certain criminal convictions or serious maltreatment.
General Responsibilities:
Assist the resident with personal cares which may include all or some of the following: shampooing of hair, assist with showering, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares and foot cares if instructed to do so, medication administration, redirection of a confused resident, and other cares as assigned Assist with dressing, grooming and oral cares as assigned Assist in use of hearing aids and glasses for residents Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance and independence Assist with treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse Observe client and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc. Medication administration/assistance as delegated by RN Assist with meal preparation as directed following special meal plans Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration as instructed Report changes or concerns to RN Attend In-service training as assigned Follows cleaning schedule per shift worked Lead resident activities as scheduled and assigned Ability to read, write and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos Ability to write simple correspondence and documentation on each resident Ability to effectively present information on one-to-one and small group situations to customers, residents and other employees of the organization Must understand and communicate medical terminology Must be punctual, with a good attendance record Must be mature and emotionally stable using calm and kind tone of voice, remaining calm in difficult or unusual circumstances Promoted independence, not dependence, with residents offering choices and fostering self-help skills Must be able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations Must be compassionate and work with tact and ethical awareness Must work as a team member with other personnel and R.N Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills Must obtain 8 hours Dementia Training within 160 hours of start of employment Obtain required Dementia Training annually thereafter Other duties as assigned In keeping with federal, state and local laws, Heartland Senior Living's policy forbids employees and associates from discriminating against anyone based on race, religion, color, creed, gender, age, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, familial status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
