In the field, and in our office in Durham, NC Plumbing Industry Amce Plumbing is a long-standing, family-founded institution that has served the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill "Triangle" area since 1947. Originally established by W. Laurence Tilley, Sr., the company has built a multi-generational legacy of integrity, craftsmanship, and community trust. Acme is under new ownership and entering an exciting growth phase. In the coming days we are launching refreshed marketing and updated pricing, and we are building the team that will deliver on that momentum. Residential Service Plumber Role:
We are seeking an experienced Residential Service Manager to lead and oversee our plumbing division serving the Durham, NC area. In this role, you will manage a team of technicians, ensure high-quality service delivery, and drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is both technically skilled and people-oriented, with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and safety regulations. Just as importantly, they bring a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit. We are building a team that supports one another, shares knowledge, and treats every coworker with the same respect we show our customers. Applicants must have prior plumbing experience, including supervisory experience, to be considered What you'll do: Oversee daily operations of the plumbing team and dispatchers, including scheduling, dispatching, and job completion. Ensure all plumbing work complies with North Carolina codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate technicians to maintain high performance and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate service delivery and resolve field issues. Monitor inventory, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and cost control. Review project estimates, approve invoices, and manage departmental budgets. Implement and track KPIs to improve operational efficiency and team productivity. Maintain detailed job records and prepare reports for upper management. Stay current with industry trends, technology, and regulatory changes.
What skills you have:
Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong communication skills and customer service abilities. Solid problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Knowledge of safety requirements and compliance standards. Time management and organizational skills.
What you need:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade school or technical training preferred. Minimum of five years of plumbing experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role. Valid plumbing license as required by North Carolina or local regulations. Strong understanding of residential and commercial plumbing systems. Proven ability to manage teams and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Basic computer proficiency. Positive, team-oriented attitude; willingness to support coworkers, share knowledge, and contribute to a respectful, drama-free work environment. Must pass a pre-employment background check.
What is nice to have:
Master Plumber License. OSHA 30-Hour Certification. Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent). Prior experience with ServiceTitan or comparable field service software.
