Job Description

About us Old Colony Smokehouse is a local family-owned and operated craft barbecue restaurant in Edenton, NC. We're open 4 days per week, welcoming lines of destination barbecue seekers, traveling foodies, and locals alike. Our team consists of like-minded folks who genuinely care about providing the best possible experience for our guests. All food is scratch-made; no frozen convenience items, pre-made foods, or heat from a box/can dishes come from our kitchen. We offer the best working hours in the restaurant business with most shifts between the hours from 9am-7pm Monday through Saturday. Nights and holidays are times to be spent with family

Our pay rates are the best in the area, our entire team works together for the common goal, and the work environment is drama free. Old Colony Smokehouse is seeking qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals to fill a role as General Manager. This is a hands-on, working role.
Hours:
(40-55 hours per week)
Job Summary:
The General Manager provides general supervision, including interviewing and hiring, employee engagement, personal attendance, and training. The GM contributes to the restaurant's progress and growth. Setting an example to team members of commitment and process expertise.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and trains restaurant staff. Organizes and oversees the staff schedules. Oversees operations and makes policy changes as needed to maximize efficiency. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with restaurant policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises food storage and preparation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards. Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the restaurant and dining experience. Handles customer complaints, resolving issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner. Estimates food costs. Manages inventory and purchases food and supplies. Conducts daily inspection of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards. Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance, schedules for service. Maintains sales records and tracks cash receipts. Prepares and submits operations reports and other documentation requested by the company leadership. Performs other duties as assigned.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on hospitality. Excellent time management skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.
