Job Description

Job Summary The Risk & Regulatory Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and program requirements governing MCHC operations as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role provides leadership in regulatory compliance, policy governance, compliance training, auditing, and investigation processes, aligned with requirements set by HRSA and other regulatory bodies. The Compliance Officer ensures organizational readiness for audits, site visits, and continuous regulatory oversight. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance Oversight (FQHC/HRSA) Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and healthcare regulations governing FQHC operations Oversee adherence to HRSA Health Center Program requirements and FTCA guidelines Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary organizational changes Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance-related audits and site visits Compliance Program Management Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance program Establish annual compliance work plans and risk assessments Maintain a compliance calendar for regulatory deadlines and reporting requirements Promote a culture of compliance and accountability across the organization Policy Governance & Management Develop, review, and maintain all organizational policies and procedures Ensure policies align with regulatory requirements and operational practices Maintain a centralized policy repository and ensure accessibility Conduct annual policy review and updates Compliance Training & Education Develop and manage organization-wide compliance training programs Ensure staff completion of required training (HIPAA, Code of Conduct, Fraud, Waste, Abuse) Track training completion and enforce accountability Provide ongoing compliance education to staff and leadership Auditing & Monitoring Conduct internal audits across clinical, administrative, and operational areas Identify compliance risks, gaps, and areas for improvement Develop corrective action plans and monitor progress Conduct mock audits to ensure readiness for HRSA reviews Investigations & Compliance Enforcement Lead investigations related to compliance violations, HIPAA breaches, and ethical concerns Collaborate with HR on employee-related investigations Maintain documentation and reporting for all investigations Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented Reporting & Leadership Oversight Provide monthly compliance reports to the CEO or Grants Manager Present audit findings, compliance risks, and recommendations Escalate critical compliance issues as needed Collaboration with Risk & Safety Officer Review incident reports for compliance implications Participate in root cause analysis and risk mitigation planning Align safety and compliance strategies to support organizational risk management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective oral and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully at all levels Exceptional analytic thinking, time management, and multi-tasking skills Risk management experience and risk assessment skills Ability to find ways of complying with rules and regulations without negatively affecting the company's operations High degree of personal initiative Ability to apply what is read to the organization and complete or oversee federal and state reporting requirements Ability to conceptually analyze organizational risks, produce reports based on risk profiles of the organization, and clearly communicate potential methods of mitigating risk to the CEO and management team Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Safety Management, or related field required Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare safety, environmental health, or risk management Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
Certifications/Licenses:
Current licensure to practice as a Risk & Safety Manager in the state of Mississippi Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification Additional certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and TB Surveillance and Testing Certification Successful completion of Mallory CHC's credentialing and privileging review upon hire and re-credentialing as appropriate
