Job Description

Department Overview The Noninvasive Cardiology department provides care to adult patients over the age of 18. Stress testing of pediatric patients is also managed in Noninvasive Cardiology department (Pediatric Attending MD or Physician's Assistant will be present for those procedures).
Procedures include:
transthoracic echo, exercise stress echo, treadmill stress tests, CPEX and VO2 testing, pharmacological stress echo, and the exercise and/or pharmacological stress portion of nuclear perfusion tests (RNs administer the medications and monitor the patient's response to the procedures). Transesophageal echo is done under conscious sedation in the Procedural Care Units on Marquam Hill and CHH2. This position also comes with great benefits!

  • 96 hours per year, prorated for part-time Substantial public transportation discounts (Tri-met and C-Tran) Tuition Reimbursement Innovative Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including extensive wellness resources Function/Duties of Position The Noninvasive Cardiology department is staffed Mon-Fri, 7:00AM to 5:30PM for routine and scheduled testing both at Center for Health and Healing and HRC/Sam Jackson Hall.
Services are also provided at the OHSU Cardiology Clinic in Beaverton on once-per-week basis during the same operating hours. Inpatient coverage is provided on Saturdays, 7:00AM to 5:30PM. Nurses are responsible for on-call coverage on a rotational basis on Saturdays, 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the HRC/Sam Jackson Hall location. Core responsibilities include direct patient care, telephone triage, care coordination, fulfilling pre-intra-post-procedural care to patients undergoing tests performed by Stress Testing RNs in Noninvasive Cardiology. This position requires independent critical thinking, care coordination, engagement in transitions of care, and the ability to appropriately triage patients with complex, multi-system medical problems. The RN must be able to work as a team with providers, nurses, echo technicians, EKG technicians, medical assistants, schedulers, and all other disciplines as needed, and functions in a collaborative manner to ensure effective and timely communication with the patient, family, and other team members. Required Qualifications Two (2) years recent cardiac experience in ambulatory and/or acute care settings
BSN Graduates:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
ADN Graduates:
Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before start date Current, unencumbered Washington RN license by 1 week before start date BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications Advanced triage skills; telephone triage experience, advanced knowledge base supporting general cardiology to include cardiovascular disease, cardiac specific medications, arrhythmias, and interventions. Previous experience working with patients with arrhythmias and cardiac rhythm disorders. Experience in an ambulatory and procedural setting. Certification in a cardiovascular nursing specialty. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in a variety of collaborative settings. Demonstrated experience in patient and family education, including development of teaching materials. Previous experience working with patients with implanted cardiac devices and other advanced cardiac therapies. Excellent organizational skills. Professional demeanor. Current competency with
EPIC EMR.
