Job Description

Come join our Nursing Team at Generations Behavioral Health! We are a growing company looking to add experienced supervisors to our team!
Job Summary :
Responsible for oversight of the nursing staff in all areas, as well as to deliver safe, efficient, and age-specific nursing care to patients and families.
The essential responsibilities are:
direct patient care and assessments, maintenance of mandatory documentation, staff education and development, intake and admission, discharge planning with resource referrals, exceptional customer service, committee and community involvement, scheduling staff to maximize coverage within budget resources, and strong role-modeling and mentoring of positive relationships with patients and customers, as well as peers.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervises the following positions: Manages and directs clinical departments, which may include, but are not limited to, nursing, and Staff Education / Development.
Position Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing Registered Nurse with current license to practice in Ohio Current BLS Bachelor's degree in nursing, preferred Experience in psychiatric nursing, preferred Experience with complex medical conditions, preferred Certification, preferred Key Responsibilities /
Job Accountabilities:
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and families. Assesses and identifies patient care requirements by utilizing evidence-based assessment and screening tools. Collaborates with other disciplines to develop a treatment plan that reflects patient assessments, goals of patient and family, and functionality. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, as appropriate. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing department philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, The Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and other governing agency regulations. Resolves patient problems and mentors nursing staff in this process. Maintains safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, with assistance from unlicensed support personnel. Leads and/or monitors effective crisis intervention through teamwork and respect for patient to ensure that best outcome. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Establishes and maintains professional boundaries. Serves as a consultant to peers and others regarding complex clinical cases. Develops and/or leads improvement projects for nursing practice standards and higher quality patient care. Maintains nursing staff records of competencies and educational programs. Provides and/or arranges for in-service training for new and existing equipment and/or procedures and develops guidelines. Demonstrates computer skills that reflect accurate documentation and use of available on-line resources to obtain information. Displays critical thinking and ability to make appropriate decisions when other nursing leadership is not on-site. Holds others accountable for practice deviations, appropriate use of equipment and following procedures to perform nursing functions. Utilizes hand-off communication effectively. Actively role models effective communication strategies. Mediates conflict resolution. Researches best practices in methods of communication. Facilitates crucial conversations. Teaches and mentors others in group communication. Supports and leads case conferences. Monitors and shares patient satisfaction scores. Guides nursing staff through change as an opportunity for growth. Empowers all staff to provide feedback and is receptive to new ideas. Able to influence others in a positive manner, recognizing differing opinion. Provides leadership in the shared governance process throughout the organization. Additional Skills /
Qualifications:
Knowledge of psychopathology and medical care of patients Understanding of resiliency and recovery in mental illness and substance abuse, and treatment approaches and techniques. Ability to work under stress. Flexibility in work schedule.
