Job Description
Position Overview - RELOCATION
This is a hands-on role focused on robotics, PLCs, and material handling systems, with responsibility for troubleshooting, commissioning, optimization, and continuous improvement. The engineer also supports process safety initiatives and ensures compliance with regulatory standards in a complex, safety-critical manufacturing setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support across engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance teams for automated systems, including troubleshooting, debugging, and process optimization.
Design, modify, and maintain PLC, HMI, and automation logic, ensuring structured and reliable code development.
Support and lead commissioning activities for new equipment, system upgrades, and process changes.
Monitor system performance using HMI, SCADA, and data systems to identify trends, improve uptime, and increase throughput.
Troubleshoot and repair robotic systems, end-of-arm tooling, motion control systems, conveyors, and automated material handling equipment.
Maintain and support safety systems, including light curtains, emergency stops, safety relays, and safety PLCs.
Perform and lead preventative maintenance activities, including robotic calibration, component replacement, and system checks.
Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P and ID diagrams, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and upgrades.
Identify and implement improvements to automation systems to enhance safety, reliability, and process performance.
Conduct root cause analyses and support corrective action initiatives for system failures and process issues.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, lockout tagout procedures, and validation documentation.
Maintain accurate system documentation, including PLC programs, robotic code, network configurations, and electrical records.
QualificationsExperience in robotics, controls, or automation within a manufacturing environment.
Strong hands-on experience with industrial robotics systems, including programming and maintenance of platforms such as Fanuc, ABB, or equivalent.
Experience with PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting, with preference for Allen-Bradley or similar systems.
Working knowledge of conveyors, packaging systems, and automated material handling equipment.
Experience troubleshooting servo systems, motion control systems, and industrial automation hardware.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, mechanical drawings, and process diagrams.
Experience with root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective action implementation.
Experience developing and maintaining SOPs, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
Strong mechanical aptitude including assembly, disassembly, and working with OEM components and specifications.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills across electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.
