Job Description
Cooper Farms is a family-owned farm and food company based in Northwest Ohio for 85 years. A commitment to teamwork and quality has made us one of the top turkey, hog and egg companies in the U.S. and awarded the company and its team an excellent reputation. Our Fort Recovery Feed & Animal Division in Mercer and Darke counties, in Ohio, produces and delivers feed while providing support to our contract farmers raising animals for production. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 2nd shift Safety Assistant to join our team in Fort Recovery. The primary goal of this position is to assist the Safety Manager in the efficient and effective operation of all respective programs.

Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pmSTARTING RATE
From $17.00/hrADDITIONAL PAY
Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)Job Functions:
Assist the Safety Manager in the administration of all company safety programs. Have working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department including, but not limited to, all the responsibilities of the Safety Assistant. Take the lead and own at least two safety programs by reviewing, updating, implementing, training, and maintaining to ensure compliance. Conduct hazard analysis within the workplace. Inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment. Monitor work practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements and identify corrective actions. Be proficient in root cause analysis to be able to assist/train managers and supervisors in the investigation process to arrive at a sound corrective action to prevent further incidents. Investigate incidents and accidents to identify the root cause and how to mitigate the hazards identified. Prepare and distribute written reports on the findings. Continuous further education with attending safety specific programs/classes. Have attended a Cooper Farms Leadership class and demonstrates the skills needed to work across departments with managers and supervisors. Support the needs of production and other support departments through teamwork and understanding. Requires a minimum of a HS diploma or equivalent. Applicant must be open to obtaining their First Aid and CPR certification, and OSHA 30 Certification.
