Safety Manager -Conover, NC The Opportunity:
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading all occupational safety and health initiatives at the Conover facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture. This role partners with plant leadership and employees to proactively identify risks, implement safety programs, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety. You will play a key role in aligning plant safety goals with broader business objectives while supporting a safe, compliant, and engaged work environment. How you will impactSmurfit Westrock:
Lead the development and execution of plant-wide safety programs, policies, and training initiatives Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities to prevent incidents Review accident and injury reports, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Serve as the primary point of contact for workers' compensation and general liability processes Partner with operations and plant leadership to strengthen safety practices and drive accountability Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety performance and risk reduction Manage safety documentation and support third-party audits and compliance reviews Promote a culture of safety through coaching, engagement, and employee involvement Support safety incentive programs and track participation and effectiveness What you need to succeed: Experience managing or supporting safety programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA) Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to drive safety improvements Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to influence others and promote a proactive safety culture Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)Preferred:
