Job Description
Position Summary The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures for utility-scale solar construction operations. This position supports EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) activities by promoting a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and proactive risk management across all project phases. The Safety Officer will work closely with site management, subcontractors, craft personnel, and client representatives to ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA regulations, company standards, and project-specific safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Implement and maintain site-specific safety programs and procedures Conduct daily safety inspections and hazard assessments Monitor compliance with OSHA, state, and company safety regulations Maintain all required safety documentation and reporting Perform routine site walkthroughs and safety audits Observe work activities to identify unsafe acts or conditions Stop work when imminent danger or unsafe conditions are identified Ensure proper use of PPE and fall protection systems Conduct new hire safety orientations Lead daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns Prepare incident reports and corrective action plans Participate in client safety meetings and audits Monitor heat stress, weather-related risks, and environmental conditions
Qualifications Required:
OSHA 510
Certification OSHA 30 Construction Must be willing to travel 2+ years of construction safety experience preferred Experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy construction preferred Knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926) Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work in active outdoor construction environments Valid driver's license with clean driving recordPreferred Certifications:
First Aid / CPR / AED CHST, STS, ASP, or CSP certifications preferredNFPA 70E
knowledge preferred Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to walk long distances across uneven terrain Ability to climb ladders and navigate active construction areas Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Work Environment This position operates primarily in an active solar construction environment and may require: Extended outdoor exposure Weekend or overtime work Travel between project areas Exposure to high temperatures and changing weather conditions Compensation & Benefits Compensation will be based on experience, certifications, and project requirements.Benefits may include:
