Job Description

Position Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing workplace health and safety programs. This role focuses on accident prevention, regulatory compliance, employee training, and continuous improvement of safety practices across the facility. Supervisory Responsibility None Essential Duties and Responsibilities Implement and maintain workplace health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Evaluate safety practices and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. Conduct safety training, including accident prevention and health awareness programs for employees. Perform routine inspections of equipment and work areas to identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are taken. Monitor employee compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Support the administration and documentation of Workers' Compensation claims. Recommend improvements, corrective actions, and preventive measures to enhance workplace safety. Required Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of risk assessment and hazard identification. Understanding of health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines. Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize potential safety hazards. Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and apply risk management principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and motivational abilities. Ability to identify areas needing safety improvements and take appropriate action. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and ADEM standards. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and
ISO 45001
standards.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in safety role. Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds independently. Work environment includes both office and production floor settings. Exposure to a manufacturing environment that may be dusty, noisy, and dirty. Routine presence on the production floor requiring the use of appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant sleeves, and steel-toed shoes.
