Job Description
We Are Seeking Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Safety Specialist . The Safety Specialist reports to the Assistant Public Works Director . The primary functions of this position include: Administer and deliver safety training programs across all Public Works divisions, including facilitation of 30-hour OSHA courses. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, job hazard analyses, and training materials to keep the department ahead of compliance requirements. Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses for all injuries and property damage events, driving corrective action and continuous improvement. Coordinate with department leaders and the Town's Safety Coordinator on safety issues, inspections, and regulatory compliance across OSHA, ADOSH, and FMCSA standards. You bring deep knowledge of OSHA and FMCSA regulations and know how to translate that expertise into training that actually sticks, procedures that get followed, and investigations that lead to real change. You're organized and detail-oriented enough to keep certification records and documentation airtight, while remaining a credible, collaborative presence in the field alongside crews doing hands-on work. In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements: Associate's degree and three years of experience in safety, Public Works, or a related field — or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities Valid Arizona Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) Certified OSHA 30-hour for construction and/or general industry (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment) This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen. This position has been designated as a Medium work position that spends a majority of their workday in a mixed office and field environment.
