Job Description

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Landscape Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of residential landscape maintenance clients. This is a highly client-facing role for someone who genuinely understands plants and landscapes, enjoys building relationships, and has a strong commercial instinct. The right person can walk a property and see both what needs attention today and what could make the landscape better over time. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, partner closely with our field teams, proactively identify horticultural and property needs, and develop enhancement opportunities ranging from planting and irrigation improvements to seasonal upgrades and larger landscape projects. This is not a desk-based account management position. We're looking for someone who enjoys being out on properties, talking with clients, solving problems, and helping beautiful landscapes evolve.
What You'll Do Client Relationships & Account Management:
Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of landscape maintenance clients. Develop strong, trusted relationships with homeowners and property representatives. Conduct regular property walks and proactively communicate recommendations, concerns, and opportunities. Understand each client's priorities, preferences, property, and long-term goals. Respond promptly and professionally to client questions and concerns. Build relationships that lead to strong client retention, referrals, and additional work.
Horticulture & Property Stewardship:
Regularly evaluate properties for plant health, irrigation issues, pruning needs, pests, weeds, seasonal needs, and overall landscape quality. Identify plants and understand their growth habits, cultural requirements, pruning needs, and common problems. Make practical horticultural recommendations appropriate to Sonoma County's climate and landscapes. Work with field leaders to ensure maintenance practices support the long-term health and appearance of each property. Help develop seasonal maintenance and improvement plans for key accounts.
Enhancements & Sales:
Proactively identify opportunities to improve client properties. Recommend and sell enhancement work including planting, irrigation upgrades, mulch, drainage improvements, seasonal color, tree work, garden renovations, and other landscape improvements. Meet with prospective maintenance clients, walk their properties, and help develop appropriate proposals. Build estimates and proposals independently or in partnership with our estimating and operations teams. Follow up consistently on open proposals and opportunities. Grow revenue within existing accounts while ensuring recommendations are genuinely valuable to the client.
Operations & Team Collaboration:
Communicate client expectations and property priorities clearly to field teams. Partner closely with maintenance supervisors, foremen, enhancement crews, and operations leadership. Conduct quality-control visits and ensure work meets company standards. Maintain accurate client notes, property information, photos, proposals, and follow-up items. Help ensure sold work is properly handed off from sales through execution and completion. What We're Looking For Required /
Strongly Preferred:
3+ years of experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, landscape construction, garden management, or a related field. Strong working knowledge of plants and horticulture. Ability to identify common Northern California landscape plants and understand their care. Experience working directly with clients or customers. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Comfortable recommending and selling services. Organized and capable of managing multiple clients, proposals, follow-ups, and active projects simultaneously. Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between client properties.
Especially Valuable:
Experience managing high-end residential landscape accounts. Existing knowledge of Sonoma County landscapes, climate, and plant material. Experience estimating or selling landscape enhancement work. Irrigation knowledge. California Qualified Applicator Certificate or other horticultural credentials. Degree or certificate in horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape management, or a related field. Spanish language skills.
