The Commercial Relationship Specialist is a client-facing relationship management and business development role within the Commercial Banking Group. This position supports the growth and management of commercial, nonprofit, and business banking relationships through client engagement, portfolio analysis, relationship support, and business development activities. The role works closely with Relationship Managers, Client & Treasury Managers, Treasury Management Advisors, and other internal partners to identify opportunities, support client needs, and deliver banking solutions. The Commercial Relationship Specialist develops knowledge of commercial banking products, client relationship management, financial analysis, and consultative sales practices while contributing to client retention, portfolio growth, and market development efforts. This role is intended to prepare employees for progression into more advanced relationship management responsibilities within the Commercial Banking Group.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain relationships with assigned commercial, nonprofit, and business banking clients. Serve as a primary contact for routine client relationships and coordinate client needs with the appropriate internal business partners. Develop an understanding of client operations, financial needs, and business objectives to support relationship growth and retention. Maintain ownership of client communications and relationship support activities to ensure a consistent client experience. Business Development & Relationship Growth Support the growth and retention of client relationships through proactive client engagement and consultative relationship management. Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through credit, deposit, treasury management, and other banking solutions. Contribute to business development efforts through prospecting, referrals, community involvement, and market outreach activities. Support achievement of individual and team business development objectives. Portfolio Analysis & Sales Support Review financial information, account activity, and relationship trends to identify client opportunities and potential risks. Support portfolio monitoring, relationship reviews, and relationship planning activities. Develop recommendations and relationship insights to support client retention, growth, and solution development. Assist in evaluating client needs and identifying appropriate banking solutions in collaboration with relationship and product partners. Solution Development & Sales Execution Support the development of client presentations, proposals, relationship reviews, and solution recommendations. Collaborate with relationship managers, product specialists, and internal business partners to deliver appropriate banking solutions. Contribute to sales planning and opportunity development efforts that support portfolio growth and client retention. Maintain knowledge of commercial banking products, treasury management solutions, and Bank capabilities to support client needs and referral opportunities. Collaboration & Professional Development Partner with business line and support teams to deliver coordinated client solutions and relationship strategies. Contribute to Commercial Banking Group initiatives, projects, and activities that support business objectives. Participate in ongoing professional development to expand knowledge of commercial banking, relationship management, and consultative sales practices. Compliance & Risk Management Maintain client relationships in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, Bank policies, and risk management practices. Monitor client relationships for operational, compliance, and business risks and escalate concerns as appropriate. Maintain accurate client and relationship documentation in accordance with established requirements. Complete all required compliance and regulatory training within established timeframes. This position is based in a non-confined office setting where the employee is free to move about as needed. The work environment may include typical environmental factors such as noise, odors, drafts, and other ordinary office conditions. For hybrid and remote positions, work may also be performed away from BSB worksites, depending on business needs. Employees working remotely are required to maintain a dependable, high-speed internet connection and a work environment conducive to frequent phone and video calls, where private, confidential, or proprietary information cannot be seen, overheard, or otherwise accessed by unauthorized individuals. On occasion, employees may be required to report to a bank location for team meetings, collaboration, training, or operational coverage. This position requires writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting up to 10 pounds, driving (personal, company, or rental vehicle on occasion), carrying, sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and using close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in banking, financial services, business development, sales, relationship management, client service, or a related field. Experience interacting directly with clients, customers, or business partners in a professional environment. Experience reviewing, analyzing, or interpreting business, financial, operational, or customer information to support decision-making. Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar business applications. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats with clients, colleagues, and business partners. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability and willingness to travel locally for client meetings, networking activities, and business development events as needed. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Two (2) or more years of experience in commercial banking, business banking, treasury management, commercial lending, or financial services. Experience supporting client relationship management, portfolio management, or business development activities. Experience working with commercial banking products and services, including lending, deposits, treasury management, or cash management solutions. Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) systems to manage client relationships, sales activities, or pipelines. Experience reviewing financial statements, account activity, cash flow information, or other financial data. Experience participating in prospecting, referral generation, community outreach, or sales support activities. Experience working in a regulated financial institution or multi-state banking environment. The posted pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role but may include ranges from the different geographies where this position may be based. New employees' starting pay is usually from the start of the range to approximately 25% of the max, more qualified and/or experienced employees may start near the middle of the range for their geography. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Compensation for our organization is based on factors that include the role, required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies, and candidates' relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs.
