Full Job Description Role Summary:
The Sales Account Manager for Custom & Proprietary publishing plays a critical role in driving the day-to-day execution and account management of our custom product offerings. Reporting directly to the Director of Custom Publishing, this role serves as the primary operational liaison for select retail, licensing, and brand partners. The ideal candidate will bridge client needs with internal editorial and production workflows, track data to inform executive strategy, and ensure that custom publishing projects are delivered on time, within budget, and optimized for market success. Strategic Oversight & Core ResponsibilitiesDedicated Account Management:
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for select custom publishing clients, ensuring proactive communication, prompt issue resolution, and exceptional client satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle.Relationship Building:
Create, maintain, and foster excellent personal and professional relationships with end-customer buyers as well as all product management staff.Proactive Partner Strategy:
Assist brand and retail partners with proprietary products, including positioning, configuration, and sales strategy, to help drive sell-through. Continually keep customers up to date on marketing initiatives to drive demand and secure increased placement for custom titles.Revenue Operations & Reporting:
Track account health, manage the intake and routing of purchase orders, and build reporting tools to monitor pipeline opportunities and project progress. Monitor, report on, and contextualize Point of Sale (POS) data by title and customer to identify performance trends.Pipeline & Production Tracking:
Monitor project milestones, enforce internal timelines, and track deliverables across editorial, design, and production teams to guarantee on-time market delivery.Asset Management:
Organize and manage client assets, contract routing, and approval workflows for custom proprietary products. Cross-Functional CollaborationForecasting & Operations Integration:
Collaborate with operations to provide timely print forecasts by title and account, ensuring accurate print runs for custom orders. Immediately communicate demand opportunities to the operations team and verify product availability before committing to external partners.Internal Liaison:
Act as the operational bridge between the external client and internal creative/production teams, translating client feedback into actionable tasks.Intake Assistance:
Support the centralized triage protocol by helping to log, track, and organize inbound partnership and custom product inquiries. Qualifications & Experience- 2-4 years of experience in account management, B2B sales support, or publishing operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client accounts and concurrent project lifecycles.
- Strong understanding of client relationship management, forecasting, and cross-functional team coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of comfort interfacing directly with external brand partners.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Comfort building highly visual presentations to showcase custom products, alongside data-driven executive reporting, is a plus. Travel (20%)
