Opportunity:
Addison Group is seeking a Patient Accounts Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a growing healthcare organization. This role is ideal for candidates with 2+ years of physician-side/professional fee revenue cycle experience , strong analytical skills, and experience working with patients regarding billing, EOBs, payments, and account balances. The Patient Accounts department is currently being rebuilt and retrained, providing an opportunity to join a growing team and contribute to improving workflows and resolving an existing account backlog.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and manage patient and guarantor accounts for accuracy and completeness Work assigned Patient/Guarantor account work queues to ensure timely follow-up and resolution Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls with patients regarding bills, charges, balances, and financial responsibility Explain charges, insurance coverage, EOBs, and patient financial responsibility clearly Process patient payments and establish payment plans when appropriate Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and account issues Verify insurance coverage and assist with claim-related concerns Follow up on delinquent accounts and escalate issues as needed Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information Document all account activity and patient interactions accurately in the system Prioritize accounts based on aging, balance, and follow-up requirements Identify and escalate root causes of account delays or errors Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality Collaborate with internal departments to resolve patient account issues Meet established productivity and quality standards
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, collections, or healthcare revenue cycle Professional fee/physician-side experience required Epic experience required Experience speaking with patients about EOBs, bill charges, balances, insurance coverage, and payments Knowledge of insurance processes and healthcare billing Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent listening and communication skills Teachable and comfortable receiving peer-to-peer training Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
