This is a hunter-and-farmer role focused on revenue growth, retention, and day-to-day service excellence. Location Noblesville / Indianapolis metro area About Our Client Our Client is a freight brokerage serving shippers who need reliable capacity across general freight, metals, building materials, produce, refrigerated goods, and related commodities. They win by being responsive, honest on rate and service, and easy to work with. The Role The Account Manager owns a book of shipper accounts and is responsible for revenue growth, retention, and day-to-day service. You will prospect and close new freight, quote lanes, coordinate with operations and carrier sales, and stay close enough to customers that they call Our Client first. This role requires time on the phone, in the TMS, and in front of customers—not just managing existing loads.
Responsibilities Own assigned shipper accounts:
onboarding, relationship management, QBR-style check-ins, and expansion into new lanes, modes, and facilities. Generate new business through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking, and follow-up on inbound opportunities. Price and quote freight competitively while protecting margin; understand market conditions on key lanes. Partner with operations and carrier sales to cover loads, solve exceptions, and deliver on-time service.
Monitor account health:
volume, margin, claims, payment terms, and at-risk business. Maintain accurate notes, rates, and activity in the
TMS / CRM.
Identify lane opportunities (dry van, flatbed/step-deck, reefer, partials, project freight) that fit Our Client's network. Represent the company professionally with shippers, receivers, and carriers. Flag credit, claims, or service issues early and help resolve them. What Success Looks Like Growth in revenue and gross margin on your book. High retention and few "surprise" lost accounts. Consistent new-logo or new-lane wins. Clean handoff to operations and low exception noise. Customers who treat you as their primary freight contact. Qualifications Required 2+ years in freight brokerage, 3PL, or truckload sales / account management (shipper-facing). Comfort selling and servicing truckload freight (dry van required; flatbed and/or reefer a plus). Proven ability to prospect, quote, close, and retain accounts. Strong phone presence; you can hold a conversation with a shipping manager and a dispatcher. Organized, self-directed, and comfortable in a smaller company where you wear more than one hat. Working knowledge of freight markets, capacity, accessorials, and basic claims process. Preferred Existing book of business or warm relationships you can legally and ethically bring. Experience with TMS platforms common to brokerages (e.g., McLeod, Turvo, Aljex, Ascend, Tai, 3PL Systems, or similar).
Indianapolis / Midwest
shipper network or strong Midwest lane knowledge. Flatbed, metals, building products, or food/reefer experience matching Our Client's freight mix.
