This role is designed for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset who are motivated by building relationships, creating opportunities, and growing their own book of business. Sales Representatives learn about the transportation industry through a cradle-to-grave freight brokerage environment, developing an understanding of prospecting, pricing, customer management, carrier procurement, freight execution, and account growth. While the primary focus of this role is securing new business, team members are expected to learn how freight moves through the organization so they can better serve customers and create long-term growth opportunities. This position provides a growth path for individuals seeking to build a career in freight brokerage sales while contributing to the continued growth of the company. Key Responsibilities New Business Development Prospect new customer opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals, market research, and other business development activities Build and maintain an active sales pipeline of qualified opportunities Develop relationships with transportation, logistics, and supply chain decision-makers Generate new customer revenue through consistent prospecting and customer acquisition efforts Meet established expectations for activity, pipeline growth, customer acquisition, revenue, and gross margin generation Customer Development Growth Develop and grow an individual book of business through relationship building and proactive account development Learn customer operations, transportation challenges, and growth opportunities Support customer retention through responsiveness, communication, and service Identify opportunities for additional lanes, locations, modes, and transportation solutions Build long-term customer relationships focused on profitable growth Manage newly won business through its early development and support a planned transition to the appropriate operational or account management resources once the account reaches the defined level of maturity, volume, or complexity. Freight Brokerage & Industry Development Learn all aspects of freight brokerage through a cradle-to-grave environment Develop working knowledge of transportation markets, pricing strategies, carrier networks, customer requirements, and operational workflows Gain hands-on experience in quoting freight, entering loads, communicating with customers, sourcing and booking carriers, and supporting shipment execution Learn how to identify transportation challenges and develop solutions that create value for customers Develop brokerage knowledge that supports long-term sales success and career growth Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Carrier Sales, Accounting, and leadership to support customer growth and successful freight execution Maintain accurate customer activity, pipeline updates, follow-up tasks, quotes, and opportunity information within the CRM and company systems Support clean handoffs as customer accounts mature and operational needs evolve Follow established communication expectations, escalation paths, and company processes Contribute to a team-first culture focused on customer service, profitable growth, and accountability Qualifications & Skillsets Take ownership of the Duty to Communicate all required and relevant information Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create opportunities, build relationships, and grow a book of business through personal effort and accountability Demonstrate a hunter mentality with a passion for prospecting, opening doors, overcoming objections, and winning new business Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills Demonstrate resilience and persistence through rejection, setbacks, and competitive market conditions Strong organization, follow-through, time-management, and daily activity habits Ability to balance prospecting, customer communication, CRM management, and freight execution responsibilities Coachable mindset with a willingness to learn freight brokerage, transportation, and professional sales Comfortable learning transportation systems, CRM platforms, Microsoft tools, and customer portals Previous sales, customer service, business development, transportation, or logistics experience preferred but not required Success Measures New customer acquisition performance Pipeline development and sales activity consistency Revenue growth and gross margin generation CRM compliance and opportunity management Customer retention and relationship development Progression in freight brokerage knowledge and sales development Consistent adoption of processes, communication expectations, and accountability standards Continued growth in prospecting effectiveness, sales skills, confidence, and ownership
