Core responsibilities Account management:
Manage accounts that are eligible for both voluntary and involuntary repossessions. This includes processing assignments, removing holds on accounts, closing accounts and addressing special circumstances like incorrect addresses.
Client and vendor communication:
Serve as a key contact for clients and financial institutions, providing updates and addressing concerns. Manage relationships with third-party recovery agents.
Compliance and legal adherence:
Ensure all repossession activities are conducted in compliance with state and federal laws, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and company policies.
Assignment and tracking:
Monitor and manage repossession assignments to ensure efficiency and timely resolution of account issues.
Communication:
Communicate with customers (borrowers) by phone to discuss redemptions/reinstatements, and resolve disputes when possible.
Problem-solving and skip tracing:
Handle issues that arise during the process, including conducting skip tracing to locate debtors or assets.
Financial Processing:
Manage fees, invoices, and other financial details related to the repossession process, updating account statuses accordingly.
Skills and Qualifications Experience:
Typically requires 2+ years of experience in collections, asset recovery, or a related financial services field. Management roles may require 5+ years.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of repossession laws, regulations, and industry procedures is essential. Certifications like Certified Asset Recovery Specialist (CARS) can be beneficial.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including potentially difficult customers.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex situations and make sound decisions.
Technical Proficiency:
