Job Description

Mikana Foods, Inc. — Eau Claire, WI (Hybrid, up to 50% travel) About Mikana Foods Mikana Foods is a specialty ingredient-cheese supplier in Eau Claire, WI. For 25 years we've connected premium natural and processed cheese from top producers to the food companies that build it into their products — appetizers, prepared foods, snacks, and more, including some of the most recognized brands in the country. We're a lean, close-knit team, and we're growing on purpose: we'd rather stay small, nimble, and great at what we do than get big and bureaucratic. The role We're hiring a Sales Account Manager to be a face for Mikana in the market — getting in front of food companies, building relationships, and bringing in new business. This is a sales role first: you'll find the right prospects, open doors, and grow a book of customers, with plenty of time on the road doing it. You'll also guide your deals through the sales cycle to a closed order — sending samples, coordinating quotes, and keeping projects moving — but the heart of the job is being out there and putting Mikana in front of more of the industry. What you'll do
Prospect:
research and identify food companies that could use our cheese, tailor your outreach, and build new relationships.
Get in front of people:
travel roughly 50% of the time to meet prospects and customers and win new business.
Qualify:
ask the right questions about scope, volume, timing, and end customer to focus on the opportunities worth pursuing.
Close and manage:
move your deals forward with samples, spec sheets, and quotes, and keep active projects on track to a closed order.
Coordinate:
work with our producers on costs and specs, and with our internal team on pricing and the order handoff. What we're looking for A real drive for sales and new business — you like meeting people, opening doors, and closing deals. Happy to travel about half the time to get in front of prospects and customers. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Organized and detail-oriented enough to keep your deals moving smoothly to close. Comfortable with CRM and sales tools, plus solid Excel and Word skills. 1-3 years in sales or customer service. Experience selling into food manufacturers is a plus — but we've brought people new to the industry up to speed before, so drive and hustle matter more than a cheese résumé. A valid driver's license. An Associate's or Bachelor's in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred, not required. Why join us We're a lean four-person team, so you won't get lost in the shuffle — your work is visible, you own your pipeline, and you have direct access to the people who make pricing and business decisions. And as Mikana grows, you'll be a key player in that growth, with real room to expand your role and evolve with the business. If you want autonomy, variety, and the chance to help build something instead of being one cog in a big machine, this is that kind of seat.
