An Equipment Rental Manager oversees the rental of equipment in industries such as construction, landscaping, agriculture, utility, manufacturing, and consumer services. They may also oversee the dispatching of delivery trucks and the loading and securing of materials prior to delivery. These managers must keep records to ensure that inventory is taken properly and certain items are available upon request. They also prepare rental contracts and ensure that they adhere to regional and national laws and regulations.

Job Description
Responsibilities Guides the day-to-day work activities of the Equipment Operations group. Participates in department strategic plan in collaboration with senior leadership. Manage the impact to construction activities, schedule, and cost through planning and communication around timely equipment supply and services. Guides the monitoring and preparation of assessment reports for management that may suggest procedural change. Assists with the coordination of local and cross-border (Canada/US) equipment logistics and preparation of customs documentation. Supervises and performs all functions relating to researching specifications, gathering and analyzing quotes, negotiating costs, and developing rental rates in support of potential acquisitions to all PCL districts. Makes recommendations to district for acquisitions and execute on the acquisitions as required. Assists with equipment operations planning and budgeting of the expense accounts, capital expenditures and revenue forecasting, and market valuation. Manages tracking and processing of equipment titles/Manufacturer Certificate of Origin (MCO) applications, annual registration renewals and cancelations across all PCL districts. Provides operational support to procurement and equipment managers. (estimating, planning, jobsite setup, specialized equipment, etc.) Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers. Ensures that equipment and vehicles comply with federal, state, provincial government regulations and HSE requirements, including but not limited to CSA, OSHA, USDOT, ANSI, Transport Canada, FCC, Spectrum Canada. Qualifications 7 years of experience in construction equipment management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Proven understanding and application of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong negotiating skills and awareness of impact of results. Able to mentor and train others on negotiating techniques. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. Advanced knowledge and application of construction tools and equipment. Strong mechanical and technological aptitude. Strong ability to understand and apply financial concepts and make important financial decisions. Aptitude and desire for corporate responsibility, integrity and business practices, and ethical decision making. Strong knowledge and awareness of construction and contracts. Proven understanding and application of applicable laws and government regulations as they apply to equipment supply and management. Ability to use industry relationships to create competitive advantages. Strong ability to facilitate conflict resolution internally.
