jared@slussforsenate.org | slussforsenate.org About This Campaign Jared Sluss is running for Alabama State Senate District 7 because you deserve a life you can afford, and we deserve politics that love our neighbor. This is a grassroots campaign built on face-to-face conversations with real people. We are 65 days from Election Day and we need someone who can help us organize, mobilize, and win. No political experience required. If you know how to get people to show up, follow through, and stay organized, we want to talk to you. The Role You will be the operational backbone of this campaign. Your job is to free the candidate to do what only he can do: knock doors, raise money, and have conversations with voters. Everything that supports that, including organizing volunteers, tracking tasks, coordinating events, and following up with people, runs through you. This is a high-trust, high-ownership position. You will not have someone checking your work every hour. You will have a clear mission, a motivated candidate, and a small but growing team. What You Will Do Volunteer Coordination
  • Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for canvassing shifts, phone banks, and events
  • Follow up with every volunteer who expresses interest so no one falls through the cracks
  • Keep a simple weekly tracker: who signed up, who showed, what they did
  • Build toward a reliable group of recurring weekly volunteers by Election Day Field Operations
  • Organize and run canvassing shifts (9 AM to noon): This can be taught. The challenge is experience getting people showing up to events & motivating volunteers. Systems and Follow-Up
  • Own the task tracker and keep it current: what is done, what is waiting, what is overdue
  • Route coordination through yourself so the candidate's time stays focused on voters and donors
  • Make sure every yes (to volunteer, to donate, to host) gets a specific ask with a due date attached Who We Are Looking For You do not need a political resume. You do need to be the kind of person who has organized something real and made it work. We are looking for backgrounds like these:
  • Led a student organization, Greek chapter, athletic team, or campus group
  • Coordinated volunteers at a church, nonprofit, or community organization
  • Managed a team, a schedule, or a recurring event in any professional setting
  • Ran a club sports team, a running group, a community league, or anything where people had to show up What matters is that you know how to get people together, hold them accountable, and follow through. Skills That Will Make You Successful Here
  • Organized and systems-minded: you build checklists and actually use them
  • Strong follow-up: you do not let things fall through the cracks
  • People person: comfortable making calls, sending texts, and recruiting strangers to a cause they care about
Self-directed:
you can take a task with minimal hand-holding and figure out how to get it done
  • Comfortable with basic tools like Google Sheets, texting apps, and a shared task doc
