Job Description

The Associate Director of Events is responsible for hiring, training, managing, and coaching approximately five to ten Event Catering and Convention Services Managers and Coordinators. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead, sell and service local business. This position may serve as the second-in-command within the Events division and reports directly to the Area Director of Sales, Events, and Marketing. The Associate Director of Events is assigned specific administrative responsibilities, including supervisory oversight of a portion of the Events department, such as Event Managers, Administrative Assistants, and Trainees. This position is responsible for achieving an assigned sales quota and servicing groups within the formal social events market, including weddings, galas, fundraisers, holiday events, milestone celebrations, and other special events. Qualifications A genuine desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment Refined verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in general computer knowledge and common business applications A minimum of three years of experience in hotel event sales, event planning, or catering sales Strong knowledge of contracting terms, conditions, and requirements Creativity and a proactive approach to emerging social and event trends Strong menu knowledge and experience with menu development Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop team members Together by Hyatt certification preferred Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced hotel environment
